Prabhupada: Yes. They're after money. So they are less than sudras. That is the cause that Christianity has fallen down, that they cannot speak straightly, or otherwise... It is straight commandment, "Thou shalt not kill." And because people are killing, they're... Now they are give man-to-man marriage, what to speak of other things. The priests, they are sermonizing this man-to-man marriage. Just see how degraded they have become. Whether any conception... At least, outside America, nobody knows that a man can be married with another man. What is this? And they're supporting it. You know that?

Atreya Rsi: Wine, for today's Roman Catholics, they think it is sanctioned.
Prabhupada: They think so many other things also. Just like Roman Catholics, there is example: they have allowed marriage between man to man. Do you know that?
Richard Webster: No.
Prabhupada: Yes. In New York there is a paper, Watchtower. They publish a monthly magazine. I have seen in that magazine. They are condemning that the priests have allowed marriage, man to man. And...
Richard Webster: In New York maybe. Not in Rome.
Prabhupada: Christianity does not mean in New York it should be different and Rome it should be different. Then nobody is following.

Prabhupada: Hypocritical, simply hypocritical. All these priests and cardinals and popes, they're all hypocritical. Getting high, highly salaried, high salaries, and drinking wine. And in America there is a hospital, five thousand drunkard priests are admitted there to cure their drinking habit. That was published in a paper. And they're sanctioning man to man marriage. That was published in that, what is that? Watch?
Satsvarupa: Watchtower?
Prabhupada: Watchtower. Yes.

Lalitananda dasa a disciple of Srila Prabhupad used to devlare boldly that he was the first devotee to ask Srila Prabhupad if he could marry a man.

My Dear Lalitananda dasa,
Please accept my blessings. I am in due receipt of your letter dated May 13rd, 1975 and have noted the contents. I am very sorry that you have taken to homosex. It will not help you advance in your attempt for spiritual life. In fact, it will only hamper your advancement. I do not know why you have taken to such abominable activities. What can I say? Anyway, try to render whatever service you can to Krishna. Even though you are in a very degraded condition Krishna, being pleased with your service attitude, can pick you up from your fallen state. You should stop this homosex immediately. It is illicit sex, otherwise, your chances of advancing in spiritual life are nil. Show Krishna you are serious, if you are.
I hope this meets you in good health.
Your ever well-wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

Soon after this Srila Prabhupad got him married to a "voluptuous red-head" as Lalitananda prabhu described her with the hope of changing his mind/inclination. The marriage didn't last and Lalitananda went back to his old ways. Lalitananda dasa ACBSP left his body of full blown AIDS - HIV in September 1989 in Berkley surrounded by devotees.

Below you will see an example of how some are misrepresenting Vedik culture, bringing in modern misconstrued ideas and values of ordinary mundane western society and trying to affiliate that with Hermaphrodites or Prakriti tritiya (third sex) that was honoured as sacred during Vedik times.

As well as this they go against all Vedik injunctions in contradicting, correcting, and even suggesting that the Acharya (Guru) was an ordinary man afflicted with various limitations, conditions and defects, the ultimate blasphemy, just to uphold their sense gratification of having homosexual relations with another person. All this is then done in the name of the guru.

Hare Krsna!  All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga!

In response to Mahesh's negative posting against same-sex unions, it
should be noted that Srila Prabhupada's initial reactions were made
decades ago and were completely typical for anyone of his time and
generation.

It's quite unfair to present Srila Prabhupada as an expert on
homosexuality and "third-sexed" people when he himself admitted to a
lack of knowledge on this subject (See "I Do Not Know Exactly..."
Srila Prabhupada's Statements on Homosexuality).  Srila Prabhupada
grew up in a society where same-sex behavior was commonly
misunderstood, never discussed, and harshly punished under British
and Indian law by life imprisonment.  He would not be expected to
know much about the subject, and many of his statements have since
been clearly proven wrong such as "in animal society there is no
homosex," "in India there are no lesbians," etc.

Anyone familiar with Prabhupada's tapes, conversations, and morning
walks will know that there were often language and cultural
differences between him and his western disciples that sometimes
fostered misunderstandings requiring further clarification and
discussion.  Srila Prabhupada was only vaguely familiar with the
third-sex of India, so what to speak of their western counterparts.
He could easily have taken western homosexuals to be ordinary males,
which would explain his condemning statements.

It would be nice to sit down with Srila Prabhupada and discuss these
issues fairly and rationally, but unfortunately he is no longer
physically available to us for personal guidance and attention.  This
job is now up to the present and future qualified leaders, gurus,
sadhus, etc.  In any case, our preaching must be dynamic, effective
and according to time and circumstances.  It is not fair to
Prabhupada himself if we misuse his statements when they are no
longer appropriate.  We should not imprison ourselves nor our
preaching to the past.

The bottom line is that committed same-sex unions or marriages are a
significant improvement over unbridled promiscuity and should
therefore be encouraged for the benefit of all.

In the service of my beloved gurudeva Srila Prabhupada,

-Amara dasa
