Here's an amazing little essay by Srila Sac-cid Ananda Bhaktivinod
Thakur Prabhupad in 1896.
Something on Positive Association, and an inspirational letter from
Srila Prabhupada:

You would learn stuff like.....

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. Never pass up
the opportunity to go for a joyride. Allow the experience of fresh
air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

When it's in your best interest--practice obedience.. Let others
know when they've invaded your territory. Take naps and stretch
before rising. Run, romp, and play daily. Thrive on attention and
let people touch you.

Avoid biting, when a simple growl will do. On warm days, stop to
lie on your back on the grass. On hot days, drink lots of water and
lay under a shady tree. When your happy, dance around and wag your
entire body.

No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing
and pout run right back and make friends. Delight in the simple joy
of a long walk. Feast with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have
had enough. Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something your not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. When someone
is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Ghee or oil for deep frying
1 envelope spring vegetable soup mix
1 cup asparagus, finely chopped
1/4 cup water chestnut, finely chopped
20 won ton wrappers (3-inch square)
Soy sauce, (optional)

in uncovered electric skillet, heat 3/4 inch of oil to 360
degrees. Meanwhile, in medium bowl combine 1 envelope Instant
soup mix, asparagus, and water chestnuts. Place 2 teaspoons
of the mixture on the center of each Won Ton wrapper. Moisten
corners with water, fold wrappers in half to form a triangle,
and press edges to seal. Form Won Ton by bringing together
two opposite points and overlapping; moisten overlapping
points and press to seal well. Fry in hot oil until golden
brown; drain.

Offer to the Lord.

Yield: 4 Servings

 ~ From The Daily Recipe

1 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
¼ tsp ginger or curry powder (or ¼ tsp of each hing powder and nutmeg)
1/3 cup ghee or approved margarine
3/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup milk

1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and ginger/curry powder in bowl.
2. Cut margarine in with a pastry blender as you would do for pie dough.
3. Add cheese and stir to coat with flour.
4. Add milk all at once and stir gently just until incorporated. The dough
should be very soft but still hold together.
5. With a large spoon, drop dough onto a lightly greased baking sheet.
Sprinkle top with poppy or sesame seeds, if desired.
6. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until lightly brown.
Makes 8-9 biscuits.

Note: additional milk may be added if too thick.
Add 1 tablespoon at a time.
For a great plain biscuit, omit cheese and imitation garlic (ginger/curry or hing/nutmeg) powder.
Save leftovers, they reheat beautifully.
Can also be frozen.

 ~ From Debbie's Country Cookin'

This recipe is from the "Kurma" cookbook (Great Vegetarian
Dishes) page 43.

He says, "Muffins are light and quick to prepare. These little
breads are baked in special deep, round muffin tins and served
hot for breakfast. This recipe comes from Govinda's Bakery in
Los Angeles"
I'd like to add that you don't have to necessarily use
just muffin tins, we've used other deep baking tins REALLY

We've also made variations on the recipe ingredients; putting
in blue-berries; pizza flavoured with Basil, Oregano, Rosemary,
Paprika - and yes, cheese on top; or try equal quantities of
Hing and Nutmeg mixed into the mix, and then with cheese on top.

Preparation time: 10 mins
Baking time: 20 mins
makes 6 muffins

1/2 cup (125 ml) raw sugar
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) wholemeal flour
1 cup (250 ml) mixed dried fruit
2 cups (500 ml) bran
at least 1 cup (250 ml) cold milk
1 tablespoon (20 ml) melted butter
1 tablespoon (20 ml) golden syrup (or dark corn syrup)
1 tablespoon (20 ml) water
1 1/2 teaspoons (7 ml) baking powder

1/. Combine the sugar, flour, fruit and bran in a bowl and
set aside.
2/. Reserve 1 tablespoon (20 ml) milk. Combine the rest of
the milk with the melted butter in a small bowl. Add the
golden syrup, combine, and add to the bran mixture.
3/. Heat the water and the reserved milk in a small saucepan.
When hot, add the baking soda. When the mixture froths, pour
it into the bran mixture. Mix it quickly and thoroughly. The
mixture should be fairly moist. (Some additional milk may be
4/. Spoon into a greased muffin tray and bake at 180
Centigrade/Celsius - 355 F for 20 minutes or until the muffins
are golden brown. Serve Hot."

Now if you're topping them with cheese there are two time to
do it.
1/. when the mix is still liquidy sprinkle the grated cheese
all over the top (with a little paprika if you like)
2/. after they are browned and cooked, then melt either grated
or thin slices of chees over the top and watch it run down the
sides (especially with mozzarella).

Naturally offer to the Lord - and distribute to the kids the
neighbours and don't forget yourself too....!

Once as a frustrated Head Pujari I asked one rather speculative
devotee what the odds would be at finishing the midday arati at
12:50 p.m. like he's supposed to?

His speculative mood remained the same as he answered,
"....about 10 to 1".

A very sinful 'brahmin' who was adverse to becoming detached from
this material world was sent to Yamaraj to be dealt with. Knowing
that he had had many such sinful births, and subsequent cleansing
after death, this 'brahmin' was very indolent in his manner, and
arrogant in his mood. Due to some austerities that he had performed
each birth he seemed to save himself from the animal kingdom. But
this time when Yamaraj had him dragged to his court, and
recognising him said, "You back again. What have you got to say
for yourself......?"
The 'brahmin' replied, "Any mail for me.....?"

There was this mystic Tantric in the villiage who worked a job in
the local town. Everything was satisfactory except that certain
miscreants took advantage of his good nature, and would steal his
parking spot.

This continued until he put up the following effective little sign:

This space belongs to the 'The Tantric'. Violators will be toad.

Once whilst staying in Madras in South India we over heard one
Christian missionary trying to preach to an old Sri Vaisnava
gentleman to convert him to Christianity.
"Come, come now," said the missionary, " Wouldn't you like
to go to heaven when you die ?"
The elderly Vaisnava shook his head and politely responded. "My
dear sir Vaikuntha is my only goal, to go express to serve the
lotus feet of Lord Narayana in that Supreme Abode. Besides, I don't
think that your heaven can be such a wonderful place otherwise the
British would have colonised it, and built a railway line there
years ago."

Last year there was a big hype about a new medication, that can
