Srimad Bhagavad Gita AS IT IS

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 18 -  Conclusion : The Perfection of Renunciation

TEXT 54
                        brahma-bhutah prasannatma
                          na socati na kanksati
                          samah sarvesu bhutesu
                        mad-bhaktim labhate param

WORD FOR WORD
   brahma-bhutah--being one with the Absolute; prasanna-atma--fully joyful; na--never; socati--laments; na--never; kanksati--desires; samah--equally disposed; sarvesu--to all; bhutesu--living entities; mat-bhaktim--My devotional service; labhate--gains; param--transcendental.

TRANSLATION
One who is thus transcendentally situated at once realizes the Supreme Brahman and becomes fully joyful. He never laments or desires to have anything. He is equally disposed toward every living entity. In that state he attains pure devotional service unto Me.

PURPORT by HDG Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
To the impersonalist, achieving the brahma-bhuta stage, becoming one with the Absolute, is the last word. But for the personalist, or pure devotee, one has to go still further, to become engaged in pure devotional service. This means that one who is engaged in pure devotional service to the Supreme Lord is already in a state of liberation, called brahma-bhuta, oneness with the Absolute. Without being one with the Supreme, the Absolute, one cannot render service unto Him. In the absolute conception, there is no difference between the served and the servitor; yet the distinction is there, in a higher spiritual sense.

In the material concept of life, when one works for sense gratification, there is misery, but in the absolute world, when one is engaged in pure devotional service, there is no misery. The devotee in Krsna consciousness has nothing for which to lament or desire. Since God is full, a living entity who is engaged in God's service, in Krsna consciousness, becomes also full in himself. He is just like a river cleansed of all dirty water. Because a pure devotee has no thought other than Krsna, he is naturally always joyful. He does not lament for any material loss or aspire for gain, because he is full in the service of the Lord. He has no desire for material enjoyment, because he knows that every living entity is a fragmental part and parcel of the Supreme Lord and therefore eternally a servant. He does not see, in the material world, someone as higher and someone as lower; higher and lower positions are ephemeral, and a devotee has nothing to do with ephemeral appearances or disappearances. For him stone and gold are of equal value. This is the brahma-bhuta stage, and this stage is attained very easily by the pure devotee. In that stage of existence, the idea of becoming one with the Supreme Brahman and annihilating one's individuality becomes hellish, the idea of attaining the heavenly kingdom becomes phantasmagoria, and the senses are like serpents' teeth that are broken. As there is no fear of a serpent with broken teeth, there is no fear from the senses when they are automatically controlled. The world is miserable for the materially infected person, but for a devotee the entire world is as good as Vaikuntha, or the spiritual sky. The highest personality in this material universe is no more significant than an ant for a devotee. Such a stage can be achieved by the mercy of Lord Caitanya, who preached pure devotional service in this age.

Prabhupada Uvacha:
(here's some nectar, sometimes it comes in the form of Srutakirti prabhu's diary, other times from Govinda dasi's diary, or sometimes from a letter, but still nectar...)

Mayapur

While Hridayananda Gosvami was Prabhupada's secretary in Mayapur, he was pleased to see how Prabhupada liked to hear his own singing of bhajans on the tape recorder. Even while working, Prabhupada played a tape and when the recording stopped, he asked that the other side be played again. One day, in a very jolly mood while listening to his own singing of haraye namah krsna, which had full harmonium, drum and karatala accompaniment and a strong rhythm, Prabhupada began to speak.
"Just go everywhere, and play this tape and dance." He motioned with his hands to show how the devotees should dance. "Go all around the world performing like this, and people will be so much attracted that you will make a million dollars!"
As the G.B.C. secretary responsible for all of South America, Hridayananda Gosvami usually served Srila Prabhupada in a mood of separation as he worked and travelled constantly on Prabhupada's behalf. But he often enhanced his remembrance of Srila Prabhupada by playing his tapes wherever he went. Serving in separation, he felt intensely close to Srila Prabhupada, as much as when he was personally with him, if not more so. Yet late at night after the demands of travelling, preaching, and managing, Hridayananda Gosvami would put on a tape of Srila Prabhupada singing and playing harmonium and as the transcendental sound of Prabhupada entered his ears, Hridayananda felt even more increased feelings of loving reciprocation for Srila Prabhupada. Thus vani (service to the order of Srila Prabhupada) enhanced vapuh (service to the personal form of the spiritual master). And conversely, vapuh enhanced vani.

"Shortcut Your Necessities"
Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.12.04
Bombay, April 15, 1976

Pradyumna: "The brahmacari should carry in the hand pure kusa grass, dressing himself regularly with a belt of straw, a deerskin garment, a bunch of hair, a staff and waterpot, as well as the sacred thread."

Prabhupada:

mekhalajina-vasamsi
jata-danda-kamandalun
bibhryad upavitam ca
darbha-panir yathoditam
 [SB 7.12.4]

So description of brahmacari is going on here, the dress. The dress should be as simple as possible. So the ajina means the deerskin. That is very essential because formerly the brahmacaris used to go to guru-grha. In those days the guru-grha was not palatial building. Now if you haven't got palatial building, nobody will come. The different stage. But actually brahmacari, the guru also, they were living in the forest, and brahmacari used to go that guru-grha. So the deerskin in the forest is very essential. Just like we take some blankets, we can spread anywhere and sit down. Deerskin, it is said that if you have got deerskin, you can sleep in the jungle; the snake will not touch you. That is the dravya-guna, the special effect of deerskin. Either tigerskin or deerskin, if you sit down, if you sleep, the snakes will not come. This is also very scientific. Therefore, because the brahmacaris used to live in the jungle, it was essential. But on the whole the huts are(?) recommended, not that gorgeous dress, very nice bedstead or... As far as possible, yavad-artha, whatever is absolutely necessary... That is Vedic civilization. Vedic civilization does not recommend that artificially you increase your necessities, life, and there is so much trouble. Just like nowadays in your country the machine is there in every respect. Even for shaving your cheek you require a machine. So this increasing the artificial necessities of life is possible when there is no higher thought. After all, we are thoughtful. We have got better consciousness in the human form of life than the animals. Our consciousness is developed. But because in this age, material world, we have no spiritual idea, so whatever power we have got in thinking, we are trying to increase artificially material way of life. "The idle brain is a devil's workshop."..............continued

SRILA PRABHUPADA'S QUOTE OF THE DAY

There is a book called Aquarian Gospel in which it is stated that Lord Jesus Christ lived in the temple of Jagannatha. Without being His devotee, how could he  live there and how the authorities could allow a non- devotee to live there? From that book it appears that Lord Jesus Christ lived in intimate relations with the priest order.

Mahäräja Ambaréña always engaged his mind in meditating upon the lotus feet of Kåñëa, his words in describing the glories of the Lord, his hands in cleansing the Lord’s temple, and his ears in hearing the words spoken by Kåñëa or about Kåñëa. He engaged his eyes in seeing the Deity of Kåñëa, Kåñëa’s temples and Kåñëa’s places like Mathurä and Våndävana, he engaged his sense of touch in touching the bodies of the Lord’s devotees, he engaged his sense of smell in smelling the fragrance of tulasé offered to the Lord, and he engaged his tongue in tasting the Lord’s prasäda. He engaged his legs in walking to the holy places and temples of the Lord, his head in bowing down before the Lord, and all his desires in serving the Lord, twenty-four hours a day. Indeed, Mahäräja Ambaréña never desired anything for his own sense gratification. He engaged all his senses in devotional service, in various engagements related to the Lord. This is the way to increase attachment for the Lord and be completely free from all material desires.

“No one can understand Kåñëa as He is by the blunt material senses. But He reveals Himself to the devotees, being pleased with them for their transcendental loving service unto Him.” (Bhakti-rasämåta-sindhu 1.2.234)

“One can understand the Supreme Personality as He is only by devotional service. And when one is in full consciousness of the Supreme Lord by such devotion, he can enter into the kingdom of God.” (Bg. 18.55)

These are Vedic instructions. One must have full faith in the words of the spiritual master and similar faith in the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Then the real knowledge of ätmä and Paramätmä and the distinction between matter and spirit will be automatically revealed. This ätma-tattva, or spiritual knowledge, will be revealed within the core of a devotee’s heart because of his having taken shelter of the lotus feet of  a mahäjana such as Prahläda Mahäräja.

Bhaktir asya bhajanaà
tad ihämutropädhi-nairäsyena

“Bhakti means devotional service to the Lord which is free from desire for material profit, either in this life or in the next. Devoid of such inclinations, one should fully absorb the mind in the Supreme. That is the purpose of naiñkarmya.” (Gopäla-täpané Upaniñad 1.15)

"By the grace of the Lord, a devotee can easily understand how the Lord can appear in any form He likes. Therefore the devotee is never afraid of such a form. Because of special favor bestowed upon Prahlada Maharaja, he remained silent and unafraid, even though all the demigods, including even Laksmidevi, were afraid of Lord Nrsimhadeva. Narayana-parah sarve na kutascana bibhyati (Bhag. 6.17.28). Not only is a pure devotee of Narayana like Prahlada Maharaja unafraid of any dangerous condition of material life, but also if the Lord appears to mitigate the fear of a devotee, the devotee maintains his status of fearlessness in all circumstances."

.
(Srimad-Bhagavatam, 7.9.2, Purport)

"In this age it is very difficult to follow thoroughly the regulative principles and studies of the Vedas which were formerly recommended. However, if one gives aural reception to the sound vibrated by great devotees and acaryas, that alone will give him relief from all material contamination. Therefore it is the recommendation of Caitanya Mahaprabhu that one should simply hear from authorities who are actually devotees of the Lord. Hearing from professional men will not help. If we hear from those who are actually self-realized, then the nectarean rivers, like those which are flowing on the moon planet, will flow into our ears."

(Nectar of Devotion, Chapter 10)

"The servants of God come to propagate God consciousness, and intelligent people should cooperate with them in every respect. By serving the servant of God, one can please God more than by directly serving the Lord. The Lord is more pleased when He sees that His servants are properly respected because such servants risk everything for the service of the Lord and so are very dear to the Lord. The Lord declares in the
Bhagavad-gita (18.69) that no one is dearer to Him than one who risks everything to preach His glory."

(Srimad-Bhagavatam, 1.2.16, Purport)

"By the grace of Lord Sri Krsna, we had the chance of being born in a Vaisnava family, and in our childhood we imitated the worship of Lord Krsna by imitating our father. Our father encouraged us in all respects to observe all functions such as the Ratha-yatra and Dola-yatra ceremonies, and he used to spend money liberally for distributing prasada to us children and our friends. Our spiritual master, who also took his birth in a Vaisnava family, got all inspirations from his great Vaisnava father, Thakura Bhaktivinoda. That is the way of all lucky Vaisnava families."

(Srimad-Bhagavatam, 2.3.16, Purport)

"Because the common man is unable to control the senses and the mind, it is his duty to accept the shelter of a great soul or a great devotee of the Lord and just try to please him. That will make his life perfect."

(Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.22.6, Purport)

"Never think that I am absent from you. Physical presence is not essential; presence by message (or hearing) is real touch. Lord Krishna is present by His message which was delivered 5,000 years ago. We feel always the presence of our past Acharyas simply by their immutable instructions. I hope you will understand me right and do the needful."

.
(Srila Prabhupada, letter to "My dear Students," 2nd August, 1967)

"Academic knowledge, scholarship, high position, etc., are all useless in solving the problems of life; help can only be given by a spiritual master like Krsna. Therefore the conclusion is that a spiritual master who is one hundred percent Krsna conscious is the bona fide spiritual master, for he can solve the problems of life."

(Bhagavad-gita As It Is, 2.8, Purport)

"This Krsna consciousness movement is not something new, something that we have introduced or manufactured. It is authorized on the Vedic principles, authorized by acaryas like Caitanya Mahaprabhu and others. And the method is very simple; there is no loss. We are not charging anything, we are not asking for fees and giving the people some secret mantra and promising them that they will become God. No. This is open for everyone -- children, women, girls, boys, old people -- everyone can chant and see the results."
.

"IN EVERY TOWN AND VILLAGE the chanting of the Holy Name of Krishna shall be heard. This was the forecast made by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu almost 500 years ago in India. Today, as the Hare Krishna Mantra -- Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare -- resounds in Bombay and New York, Nairobi and Sydney, and in Paris and Hong Kong, the prophecy of Lord Caitanya stands fulfilled. The universal import of this "Samkirtan Movement" (the congregational chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord) was expressed by Lord Caitanya as follows:

"Glory to the Sri Krishna Samkirtan which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years together. Thus the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death, is extinguished. The Samkirtan Movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction Moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge, it increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it helps us to have a taste of the full nectar for which we are always anxious."

Agama Tantra and the Vaishnava Samskaras as a way of life:

Recently I was asked, "Don't you find it an inconvenience to always be checking to see when is the right time to do this or the best time for that?"

In simple terms my answer was and still is; if you go to the bus or railway station or airport it is probably an intelligent venture to enquire about the times and routes of vehicles than to just hope that one will be along soon, or one is going in your direction.

There are subtle influences in the Universe that, for thousands of years gone by, advanced cultures have honoured, respected and utilised. Before the corruption of the Vedik literatures by the Christian and Moslem invaders to India all these things were used; Ayurvedik Medicine; Vedik Astrology; etc. Today there's a rennaisance among many to revive these arts.

We have been trained and studied to be able to provide these services. See some of my sites:

"The religious principles taught by Mohammed and Jesus Christ are similar to the religious principles taught by Vaishnava sects. Buddhism and Jainism are similar to Saiva-dharma. This is scientific consideration of truths regarding religious principles. Those who consider their own religious principles as real dharma and others religious principles as irreligion or subreligion are unable to ascertain the truth due to being influenced by prejudice. Actually religious principles followed by people in general are different only due to the different qualifications of the practitioners, but the constitutional religious principles of all living entities are one." Hare Krishna. Dear prabhu, as you may know the Moscow devotees are moving forward to build a grand new preaching and cultural center, as a favor to me, as I have done so this morning, please forward this announcement below to everyone in your email address book that might be interested. This will be a great service to Srila Prabhupada and Lord Chaitanya's preaching mission. Thank you

Your servant,

Janaka Mahajana Dasa

Here is an exciting announcement:

The devotees in Moscow Russia have opened a beautiful website today dedicated to the new $12,000,000 Cultural Center/Temple they are building. Srila Prabhupada was very keen on having a Moscow temple. Devotees are extremely excited by the startling success in having the land for the complex donated by the Russian Government. They have drawn up plans for a Vedic style temple complete with 2 restaurants, café, auditorium with stage, boutique, meeting rooms, and a huge temple room. This a grand step forward for Lord Chaitanya's preaching mission, a beautiful feather in Srila Prabhupada's "swami hat".

Organic Farming of Rice Promoted in Tamil Nadu
http://www.thehindu.com/thehindu/seta/2004/07/08/stories/2004070800431500.htm

TAMIL NADU, INDIA, July 8, 2004: Mr. N.G. Anbalagan, an eco-agricultural technologist and a strong advocate of organic farming, used his own farmland to demonstrate that traditional rice can be grown organically and will produce a viable and marketable end product. The article says, "He grew GEB 24 variety rice (also called Kichili Samba) successfully in his farm in Thottanaval village near Uthiramerur in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu, and harvested good yields." Mr. Anbalagan says, "I raised this crop in about 0.2 hectares as a demonstration plot, and it responded well to organic nutrition. I harvested about 800 kg paddy and 1.5 tons of high quality straw." Before the introduction of rice varieties that responded well to chemical fertilizers, GEB was widely grown. For his farm, Mr. Anbalagam had to obtain 30 kg. of seeds from the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore. The article explains how the seeds were treated with cow urine, how they began their life in a nursery where they were planted in soil rich in green leaf manure, and then how the fields where they were finally planted were rich in ripe farmyard manure. In addition, the field only required one manual weeding and spiders, frogs, dragonflies, and insect devouring birds kept the field pest proof. The article says, "The cost of cultivation of rice in 0.2 hectares was Rs. 4500. The gross returns from the paddy at the current market price will be Rs. 8000, and the value of the straw will be Rs. 500." Mr. Anbalagan firmly believes that organic farming can be re-introduced to farmers as a way of making a living if the "time honoured farming knowledge of our ancestors" is reintroduced.

Europe's Oldest Altar Found
http://www.rense.com/general56/europ.htm

The Globe and Mail
8-6-4

SOFIA (AP) -- A recently unearthed sacrificial altar where ancient villagers left offerings to their gods may be up to 8,000-years-old, making it the oldest of its kind found in Europe, a Bulgarian archeologist said Thursday.

The altar was discovered earlier this week in a mound that contained many traces of Stone and Copper Age settlements near the village of Kapitan Dimitrievo, some 100 kilometres southeast of the capital, Sofia.

"The archeological layer where the sacrificial altar was found dates back to 6,000 BC," said Vasil Nikolov, the head of the excavation team.

"In the fifth and sixth millennium BC, these lands used to be Europe's civilization core," Mr. Nikolov said. "The people who lived there were among the first farmers in Europe."

The altar is 1.85 metres deep. Three steps lead to the bottom of the cylindrical hole where religious rituals were performed.

"The cylindrical bottom of the altar is meant to symbolize the womb of the Mother Goddess of Earth," he said. "The religious rituals ñ mainly food sacrifices ñ were supposed to secure a rich harvest."

In the mound's earliest Neolithic layer, the archeologists discovered an ancient wood and clay lodging with three rooms, a grain depot and a domed fireplace. The sacrificial altar, where people left offerings of grain and cereals, was found near the fireplace.

"An altar well of such dimensions dating back to the sixth millennium BC is a first-time discovery in Europe," Mr. Nikolov said.

The mound where the altar was found is 13 metres high, with a diameter of 140 metres.

THE THIEF WHO MOVED THE BAGS

There is a story about how habit is second nature.  There was a thief, and he went on pilgrimage with some friends.  So at night when the others were sleeping, because his habit was to steal at night, he got up and was taking someone's baggage.  But then he was thinking, "Oh, I have come to this holy place of pilgrimage, but still I am continuing theft by habit.  No, I shall not do it."  So then he took someone's bag and put it in another's place, and for the whole night the poor fellow moved the bags of the pilgrims from here to there.  But due to his conscience, because he was on a holy pilgrimage, he did not actually take anything.  So in the morning when everyone got up, they looked around and said, "Where is my bag?  I don't see it."  And another man says, "Oh, there is your bag."  There was some row, so they thought, "What is the matter?  How has it happened?"  Then the thief rose up and told all of the friends, "My dear gentlemen, I am a thief by occupation, and because I have that habit to steal at night, I couldn't stop myself.  But I thought, `I have come to this holy place, so I won't do it.'  Therefore I placed one person's bag in another man's place.  Please excuse me.

MORAL:  This is habit.  He doesn't want to, but he has a habit of doing it.  Prakrteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani sarvasah.  What is the question of independence.

Vege update:
Social scientists and law enforcement officials have identified animal abuse as a symptom of emotional illness and a precursor to violent crimes against human beings. To allow individuals guilty of perpetrating such cruel acts to go unpunished or not sufficiently punished would be to sanction these horrific crimes and would permit them to go on to possibly commit violent crimes against humans.

Offering our food to Krishna:
....excerpt from lecture by HDG Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada - Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.3.1-3 -- San Francisco, March 28, 1968

The Vedic literature says like this, that God has no leg, no hand. Therefore the impersonalists take advantage of it. "Oh, here it is stated God has no legs, no hands." But the next line is, javana grhita: "He can accept everything which you offer Him in devotion."

Now how He can accept? If He has no hand, how He can accept things from us? That means He hasn't got a hand like us. His hand is different. Therefore even though He is situated in the spiritual world, which is far, far away from us, still, He says in the Bhagavad-gita, it is said,

patram puspam phalam toyam
yo me bhaktya prayacchati
tad aham bhakty-upahrtam
asnami prayatatmanah

Krsna says that "A little flower or little water or a little leaf, whatever My devotee offers Me in love and devotion, I accept it." And tad aham bhakty-upahrtam. "And because he has brought it with great devotion, therefore I eat." Tad aham bhakty-upahrtam asnami. Asnami means "I eat." Now you can say, "All right, I'll offer these fruits and flower to God, but it is the same. It is remaining. How He is eating?" But His eating is not like my eating, because He hasn't got a body like this. This body is material. If you bring me a plate of fruits, this body immediately swallows it. But He has got spiritual body. He eats... Simply as soon as He knows that you have offered it in devotion, He eats immediately.

Go here to follow the simple system for offering foodstuffs to the Lord
... and always with the Magic ingredient - Offer it to Krishna.....
... with L'n D (love and devotion)
http://www.hknet.org.nz/How2offer.htm

Why do we offer our food to God before eating?

Four Wives parable:
http://www.hknet.org.nz/4wives.pps

A circus owner walked into a bar to find everyone crowded about a table watching a little show. On the table was an upside-down pot and a duck tap dancing on it.

The circus owner was so impressed that he offered to buy the duck from its owner. After some wheeling and dealing they settled for $10,000 for the duck and the stainless steel pot.

Three days later the circus owner runs back to the bar in anger, "Your duck is a rip-off! I put him on the pot before a whole audience and he didn't dance a single step!"

"That's strange" said the duck's former owner, "did you remember to light the candle under the stainless steel pot?"

(no ducks were harmed in the telling of this joke)

There was once a hat-seller who passed by a forest on his way back. The weather was very hot and he decided to take a nap under one of the trees, so he left his whole basket of hats by the side. A few hours later, he woke up by some sounds. The next thing he realized was that all his hats were gone. Then he heard some monkeys on top of the tree and he looked up. To his surprise, the tree was full of monkeys. They have taken all his hats!

The hat-seller sits down and tries to think of how he can get the hats down. He started to think and scratched his head. The next moment, he realized that the monkeys were doing the same action. Next, he took down his own hat and fanned himself. The monkeys did exactly the same! An idea strike him - he took his hat and threw it on the floor. And the monkeys did the same too. At last , he managed to get all his hats back.

Fifty years later, his grandson also became a hat- seller and had heard this monkey story from his grandfather. One day, just like his grandfather, he passed by the same forest. Feeling very hot, he took a nap under the same tree and left the hats on the floor Again, when he woke up, he realized that all his hats were gone.

He looked up and found that the monkeys had taken all his hats. Remembering what his grandfather had told him, he started scratching his head and the monkeys followed. He took down his hat and fanned himself and again the monkeys followed. Now, very convinced of his grandfather's idea, he threw his hat on the floor... but to his surprise, the monkeys still held on to all the hats!

Then one monkey climbed down the tree, grabbed the hat on the floor, gave him a slap and said, "You think only you have a grandfather!!"

Six retired Scotsmen were playing poker in the club when Willie loses £500 on a single hand, clutches his chest and drops dead at the table.

Showing respect for their fallen mate, the other five complete their playing time, standing at the table.

Angus looks around and asks, "Now, who is going to tell the wife?"
They draw straws and Jock picks the short one.

They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse.

"Gentlemen ! Discreet ? I'm the most discreet person you will ever meet.
Discretion is ma middle name, leave it to me."

Jock goes over to Willie's flat, knocks on the door, the wife answers, and asks what he wants.

Jock says, "Your husband just lost £500, and is afraid to come home."

She shouts, "TELL HIM TO DROP DEAD!"

Jock says, "I'll go tell him."

A pirate walked into a bar and the bartender said, "Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened? You look terrible."

"What do you mean?" said the pirate, "I feel fine."

"What about the wooden leg? You didn't have that before."

"Well, we were in a battle and I got hit with a cannon ball, but I'm fine now."

"Well, ok, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?"

"We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight.

My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook. I'm fine, really."

"What about that eye patch?"

"Oh, one day we were at sea and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up and one of them unloaded its dropping in my eye."

"You're kidding," said the bartender, "you couldn't lose an eye just from some bird pooh."

"Na, It was my first day with the hook."

Did you ever wonder?

Kermit Frog  - Frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack.
"Miss Whack, I'd like to get a £30,000 loan to take a holiday."
Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he knows the bank manager. Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral.
The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office.
She finds the manager and says, "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow £30,000, and he wants to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is this?"

(You're going to love this)
 (It's a real treat)
 (A masterpiece)
(Wait for it)
The bank manager looks back at her and says... "It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."

(You're singing it, aren't you?)

Jasbinda Singh: "My wife can talk for two hours on any given subject."

Banta Singh: "My wife doesn't need a subject."

For every person with a spark of genius,
there are a hundred with ignition trouble.

The United Brethren church in Parsons, Kansas was having a program, and one of the women was supposed to say, "The ass stuck his head out the window and brayed."  The woman didn't want to say "ass" in church and asked if she could change the word to "donkey". The other members insisted that she call it an ass, because that's what it was called in the Bible.  One person reminded her of the story about Jesus riding an ass into Jerusalem.

The woman worried about her line right up until the fateful day of the program. When her turn came, she stood up in front of the congregation and said, "The donkey stuck his ass out the window and brayed."

The ways of this material world - strange but true

What do you call a three legged donkey?

A wonkey.......

What is like an Orange but isn't one?

a carrot !!!!

A drunk man who smelled like beer sat down on a subway seat next to a priest.

The man's tie was stained, his face was plastered with red lipstick, and a half empty bottle of gin was sticking out of his torn coat pocket.

He opened his newspaper and began reading. After a few minutes the man turned to the priest and asked,"

 Say, Father, what causes arthritis?"

My Son, it's caused by loose living, being with cheap, wicked women, too much alcohol and a contempt for your fellow man, sleeping around with prostitutes and lack of bath."

"Well, I'll be damned," the drunk muttered, returning tohis paper..

The priest, thinking about what he had said, nudged the man and apologized.

"I'm very sorry. I didn't mean to come on so strong. How long have you had arthritis?"

"I don't have it, Father. I was just reading here that the Pope does"

thanx Bh Gary in Q8 for that one

No one is ever completely worthless.
They can at least be used as a bad example!

If God had really intended men to fly,
he'd make it easier to get to the airport.
